Back in November, I entered a story in White Crown’s Royally Inspired Tournament. This was the first contest they had spotlighting Princess Moment stories. It was a really fun contest to write for as they provided images to draw inspiration from for a story. While my story didn’t win, I was able to get a contract for it and it has been posted on their website! What makes it even better is that they used the image I chose as inspiration for my story as the cover image!
I also wanted to share this week’s Flash Fiction Friends story. It’s micro flash fiction meaning it comes in at 100 words (or less).
Sunburn
The morning of my med school graduation I roll out of bed regretting Senior Beach Day. The skin on my arms and legs feels stretched like a canvas. I shuffle sleepily to the bathroom. “Jonas…”
He grunts.
“Jonas!”
“What, Lacey?” my husband asks as he walks into the bathroom.
“I’m a lobster.” I frown at my bright red reflection.
Jonas wraps his arms around me. “But you’re my lobster.”
I spin to face him. “I couldn’t have done this without you.”
“You did the hard stuff.”
“I’m a doctor,” I whisper.
He leans in to kiss me. “I’m so proud.”

Finally, I have a story coming out tomorrow, May 20th, in Micromance Magazine’s quarterly lit mag, KissMet. The spring edition entitled, “Spring Love is in the Air”, is currently available for preorder as an ebook, but it will be available as a paperback tomorrow! I’ll be back with a short note once the paperback is available!
